All My Love: 'Pieces of You Designs'

Today I am going to share the very inspirational and handmade business that is 'Pieces of You Designs'. I came across this fellow Sunshine Coast business very recently and knew immediately that I had to share it.

I would like to introduce you to Emily from Pieces of You Designs.

'My name is Emily Davies and I live with my partner and 3 children on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. I have an MFA in fashion design and a love of anything unique and quirky!

My business, Pieces of You Designs was born in 2011 from the need to create and utilise what was around me. My children provided me with an array of beautiful clothes that held sentimental value and had been outgrown too quickly! With a passion for sewing and a love of handmade I set out to create custom and pre-made toys, quilts, clothing and accessories.

I am inspired by sustainable approaches to design and try to use this up-cycling approach in my work.

I love to create intuitively and most of my work are 'one offs'. In my custom toy making 'Picture Pieces' I create from children's drawings. With the knowledge of construction I have, and 'by eye' I am able to make these images come to life! I love the freedom children have when using their imagination.

The most rewarding thing is the happiness I get from the children when making their pictures come 'alive'. The idea originally came from a Canadian artist who sought help with her workload. I am currently advertising through her business as an independent craftsperson and bringing this amazing concept to the Australian market! It is wonderful to see the global response to this beautiful idea.

I hope the future of Pieces of You Designs continues to allow me to enjoy what I do and that it also continues to inspire children and others to utilise what is around them and to embrace the power of imagination!'.
